Afrivora connects buyers and sellers across Africa. Most transactions go smoothly — but knowing these tips keeps you protected.
Afrivora will never ask for your password, PIN, OTP, or bank details by email, SMS, or phone call.
Meet in a public, busy place — a market, shopping centre, or bank lobby.
Bring a friend for first meetings, especially for high-value items.
Inspect every item carefully before paying anything.
Never meet at night or in an unfamiliar private location.
Pay only after seeing and confirming the item is genuine.
Use Afrivora's secure checkout or escrow when available — funds are held until you confirm delivery.
When mobile money payments launch, be cautious — transfers are instant and hard to reverse.
Never send money in advance for goods you haven't seen, no matter how convincing the story.
For cars or property, always involve a certified agent or lawyer before transferring any money.
Price too low
A nearly new phone or car listed far below market value is almost always a scam. If it seems too good, walk away.
Urgency pressure
"Pay in the next hour or I sell to someone else." Legitimate sellers don't pressure you like this.
Overseas seller with local price
Someone claiming to ship from abroad at a local price is a classic advance-fee scam.
Agent or middleman
Be sceptical of any deal that requires you to pay a third-party "agent" before receiving anything.
Use a strong password you don't use on other sites.
Never share your OTP or login code with anyone — not even someone claiming to be Afrivora.
Log out when using someone else's phone or a shared device.
