1. Who we are
Afrivora is a marketplace operated by Afrivora Ltd. We connect buyers and sellers of fashion, services, vehicles, and property. Our registered address is available on request via legal@afrivora.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information : Your name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a secure hash).
- Listing data : Photos, descriptions, prices, and location information you provide when posting a listing.
- Verification documents : Government-issued ID uploaded for identity verification. Stored securely and reviewed only by authorised staff.
- Communication : Messages sent between buyers and sellers through Afrivora's built-in chat. WhatsApp conversations happen outside the platform and are not stored by Afrivora.
- Usage data : Pages visited, search terms, listing views, and device/browser information to improve the service.
- Payment data : Transaction amounts and status. Full card or mobile money details are processed by our payment partners and never stored by Afrivora.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account
- To display your listings to other users
- To facilitate communication between buyers and sellers
- To process payments and escrow transactions
- To verify your identity and display the verified badge
- To send notifications about your listings, messages, and account activity
- To detect and prevent fraud, scams, and abuse
- To improve and personalise the Afrivora experience
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:
- Payment providers (Flutterwave, Wave) to process transactions
- Cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services) to host the platform
- SMS providers (Africa's Talking) for OTP delivery
- Law enforcement when required by applicable law
5. Data storage & security
Your data is stored on AWS servers in the Africa (Cape Town) region. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Verification documents are stored in a restricted private bucket.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data via Account → Settings
- Delete your account and associated data
- Object to processing for marketing purposes
- Export a copy of your data

7. Cookies
We use a single authentication cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. No third-party analytics scripts are loaded on Afrivora.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Afrivora after changes constitutes acceptance.
